Glowy Skin For Summer

With summer around the corner I thought I'd write a post on how to get the perfect glowy skin using skincare and make up including my personal tips and tricks. I follow these steps near enough all year round as I have dry skin so matte never really works for me; but for those of you that are looking for a change I hope this helps!

WATER.
Our skin is the largest organ in our body therefor it is important that we take good care of it, now I'm sure everyone is so sick of hearing it but drinking water is so important when it comes down to getting clear, plump and flawless skin. Replacing your usual fizzy drinks with water will have the biggest impact on your skin and you can actually see it; I cut out fizz nearly 2 years ago (with the occasional drink here and there but not as much as I used to before which was everyday) my skin has improved in texture and colour, I also don't have as many breakouts! Give it a try for at least a month to see results, I promise that it will be the best decision you'll ever make.

CONSISTENCY.
Having a consistent skincare routine is vital - make sure your skin is being cleansed, exfoliated, toned and moisturised on time to ensure dead skin is being removed so new skin can surface and do its job. I follow a strict skincare regime and although it does change here and there depending on what product I am testing out I make sure that my skin gets everything that it needs to stay glowy. I don't recommend exfoliating every day as it will strip the natural oils and irritate the skin so I would say twice a week is enough to really have a deep cleanse. I've also been using the Quick Fix Facials overnight glow boost face mask once a week as an overnight treatment to give my skin that hydration and to also add that glow back into my skin - it hasn't failed to impress me at all as my skin always feels smooth and radiant in the mornings when ever I use this the night before.

I did an entire blogpost explaining why SPF is important all year round, but during the hot summer months it is vital that you protect your skin from the harmful UVA and UVB rays. I've been using Bodyshop's Skin Defence which is super light weight on the skin and I love it because it doesn't disrupt the make up that goes on top. (read here)

NOURISHING OILS/SERUM.
I always get bombarded with questions on how I get my skin super glowy and flawless, don't get me wrong I get the odd spot here and there but the holy grail product in this blogpost is Sweet Almond Oil. It changed my life completely a few years ago and for the better; the texture of my skin now is super smooth and it looks radiant even without make up on! Some people are wary of putting oil on the skin as it can clog pores, I for one drench my skin in it and haven't had problems with 'clogged' pores but that could be because I regularly use face masks to extract blackheads and cleanse my skin. If you have oily skin you can even use a little bit on your face before you sleep and you can really see the glow the following morning.

I only very recently added the Nip + Fab Glycolic Radiance Shot into my skincare regime, although I much prefer using my Sweet Almond oil I have been switching between the two every other day. The Glycolic Radiance Shot Serum help's bring back that moisture and glow to your skin, as you all are aware I love the entire Glycolic range itself (read here) and this hasn't failed to impress me either. You can use this alone in targeted areas or mixed with your daily moisturiser!

BASE/HIGHLIGHTERS/FOUNDATIONS
During summer we all want that sun kissed skin, I've been using the Maybelline Master Strobing Stick (shade 200 nude glow) all over my face before applying foundation, I just draw some tiger stripes all over my face and then blend it out with either a flat top kabuki brush OR my trustee beauty blender. Doing this before applying foundation gives a very soft and natural glow to this skin! I also like layering highlighter to give that blinding highlight - applying cream highlight to the highest points of your face and then setting it with a powder highlight makes the biggest difference without it looking cakey.

highlighters that I recommend:
• MAC Soft and Gentle - gilded peace/bronze
• Primark Pure Glow Highlighter 'Champange' - gold/bronze
• Topshop Highlighter 'Horizon' - super bronze (perfect for holiday)
• ABH Ultimate Glow Kit shade 'Sunray' - subtle gold

For foundation I highly recommend Maybelline's Fit Me Matte & Poreless, the name may scare you but honestly this foundation actually leaves my skin looking dewy and fresh. If you have an oilier complexion you may have to powder during the day but other than that this drugstore product is really good for getting that glowy skin during the summer.

Another foundation I recommend is the Make Up Forever Ultra HD foundation stick, this foundation looks super natural on the skin literally like a 'my skin but better' finish and I love that for the summer season. I have listed down below a few other foundation I would recommend for the warmer season.

MAC Face & Body (shade C5) - leaves a very dewy finish on the skin
Make Up Forever Ultra HD Foundation (shade Y405) - dewy/satin finish to the skin
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation (shade Sand) - beneficial ingredients for the skin and leaves a radiant yet skin like finish

SETTING SPRAYS/FACIAL SPRAYS
Lastly I want to mention these two products I recently purchased and how I've been using them both with my skincare, makeup and hair! I've repurchased the Mario Badescu facial spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater many times in the past and recently they released a new facial spray with Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea which sounds very appealing I know.

Here are some of the ways I use the spray and the benefits:

•  before skincare prepping the skin for the products that go on top or after I've finished my usual regime to lock in all the goodness
•  again before applying make up I use this to prep for my foundation as I have dry skin - sometimes my skin does feel like its parching for moisture and this is where this baby helps with that
•  use this as a setting spray after you've completed your make up
when your make up has been on for hours and it looses its glow, this helps bring it back to life!
• spray some on your hair wet or dry to help keep it moist and healthy

I hope this blogpost has helped, let me know if you use any of the above products and if it works well for you!

  2. Is it Economical- The pricing of any natural anti aging product depends on 2 factors- the expenditure over marketing & the cost of ingredients used. http://www.thedermreport.com/murad-rapid-age-spot/
